This is a 24 × 36 in. mixed-media work. Mediums include acrylics on hand-stretched canvas (done by me), embroidery, spray paint, and plaster. This piece is a visual representation of the song “Sock Monkey” on the audio half of this project. The piece is a reinterpretation of the original cover art to this lead single. It explores feeling completely wore down by a deeply loved sock monkey toy from childhood but ultimately still holding out hope amongst doubt that life will get better soon.
